A/N: Written for the second week of ass_ldws, where the required genre was fluff and the prompt word was doubt.
Albus had just rounded the corner when the soft sound of sniffles reached his ears.
"Scorp?" Albus asked softly. He shook his head in dismay at the lack of answer, and knelt down on his knees. Scorpius shuddered at the tentative touch of Albus' hand on his shoulder, sobbing harder. "Scorp, what happened? Why are you—"
"I saw it." Scorpius cut in, face still hidden in his arms. Albus frowned. "I saw the way you were with the Weasley girl."
"Weasley?" Albus asked in confusion. "You've never called her..."
Albus mouth opened in an 'oh' when Scorpius flinched away, realisation sinking in.
A whisper of laughter escaped him and died the moment Scorpius raised his head. Their eyes met.
"She's my cousin, Scorp."
Scorpius nodded and fixed his gaze on the wall opposite to them.
"Scorpius, look at me." Albus pleaded, but Scorpius refused to awknowledge him. "Scorp, she's my cousin. Look—" He cupped Scorpius' chin and turned the other boy to face him.
"You kissed her."
"I kissed her on the cheek, Scorp," he whispered softly, "like friends do. It's you that I love." He traced the other boy's swollen lips with his thumb. "Just you. Never doubt that."
